Government is supposed to function as a tool for the people, not as a baby-sitter or state controlled nanny. Government doesn't have the right to act irresponsibly no matter how good the intentions of a public policy may be.  Our founders understood this and warned us loudly about this after the founding our of country.

We don't have the right to overspend our personal checking accounts without repercussion, we don't get to write hot checks and expect someone else to pay for our bills regardless of how important the purchase was.  Remember that state and federal government was created by the people, for the people, it was not given the authority or privilege to act outside of our wishes, however that is exactly what is happening to day across the board.

In that light, a responsible government should be focused on:

• Lower taxes Less government intrusion

• Fostering adult responsibility, not irresponsibility and entitlement

• Fostering economic development

• Foster Incentives to create more jobs by small businesses

• Protection of our water

• Sanctity of life

• Defender of the Constitution and its written word as is stated in our oath of office, including ALL of the lawful Amendments to the constitution

• The requirement for a balanced Budget - period.  Expenditures based on revenue and not the desires of special interest groups, on either side of the aisle.

• Work within the confines of the Taxpayers Bill of Rights (TABOR) - don't you know that TABOR came about because government was ignoring the wishes of the people - responsible government doesn't need TABOR, it should be common

• Making sure that Colorado does not accept any unfunded mandates - if there's no money, who is going to pay for those unfunded mandates?  Our children?  Our grandchildren?  Why is this even a question for responsible adults?

If you grant me the privilege of representing you in State Senate District 3, these core values above shall guide what I will focus on - you won't have to wonder how I make decisions to support or protect you and your family.
